How an orphanage gave him his lifelong advocacy

An orphanage in Manila fed him when he was still in college and this act of kindness gave him his lifelong advocacy. Edward Baldago Era or also known as “Kuya Ewa” is the founder of Munting Hiling Foundation and President of Samahan ng Kabataang Boluntaryo ng Pilipinas. He’s also a Philanthropist, Educator, Mentor and Speaker. Yes, he might look very serious, but nope. He’s a ray of sunshine for others.

Munting Hiling Foundation comprises of a group of individuals who aims to bring love and care to less fortunate in Hospicio de San Jose Orphanage, the same orphanage that fed him when he was still in college. Kuya Ewa started this simple act of kindness in 2012 and today, it has served and bring joy to Lolos and Lolas (grandparents), kids, and persons with disability.

Helping others to be leaders is also one of his advocacy. In SKBP, he makes sure that everyone will have the chance to lead certain tasks while guiding him or her. Training of the Trainers is an event which he organized that helps potential individuals to become confident, to learn the art of storytelling, and to advocate truly. It is in his delight to see someone who is very shy to an effective leader.

โ€œThe greatest leader is not necessarily the one who does the greatest things. He is the one that gets the people to do the greatest things.โ€

– Ronald Reagan

When asked why he’s doing what he’s doing, given that he can just stop and just focus on his bright teaching career, he’ll just smile and say it is all because of love and for joy. Sabi nga niya, “Magandang Buhay!”
